Today it's Making Cookies with Your Kids.

Traffic Light Cookies:
Ingredients:
sugar cookie dough (homemade or store bought)
egg whites
food coloring (red, yellow, and green)

What To Do:

Roll out the cookie dough and cut into rectangles. Have prepared three small bowls of "paints" to paint on the cookies. To make the paint mix egg whites with a drop of food coloring. You will need three bowls to make one for red. yellow, and green. Paint the traffic lights onto the rectange cookie with clean paintbrushes.  The children enjoy painting the red, yellow, and green lights and they do look real. Bake and enjoy.

Tips:
You may make small indentations with your thumb to allow the paints space.
If using store bought dough you may find that your shapes of cookies spread too much when the bake.  There are 2 things you can do to prevent too much spreading.
1) Add flour to the dough  (I use about 1/4 cup for every 6 cookies) and a few tbs of cocoa.
2) Keep your dough chilled. ( I only pull out enough to cut a few cookies at a time)
3)Prior to baking, stick your cut out cookies on the sheet pan into your freezer for about 10 minutes and then bake.  This will help them from spreading too much.

If wanting to make from homemade, let me know, I have a wonderful sugar cookie recipe.

Have fun making cookies and memories with your little ones.  Happy Friday to You!
